Abstract:

Crop yield and economic benefit are very low because of low annual precipitation and its uneven distribution in semi-arid area, west Liaoning. This study aimed to seek suitability of some key water-saving techniques and their integrating patterns. Two patterns were integrated. Of which, one named the water-saving planting pattern of film mulching and limited supplementary irrigation grates in mulching cultivation. While another was called the water-saving planting pattern of irrigating-sowing and limited supplementary irrigation in open cultivation. It showed that the yield, water use efficiency and economic benefits using the two patterns were higher than checked by 30.9% and 21.4%, 48.5% and 49.9%, 34.7% and 33.7%, respectively. It also suggested that these two patterns were suitable for the semi-arid area of west Liaoning.
