Effluent Purifying Performance of New Style Fluidized-sand Biofilter in Recirculating Aquaculture System

Abstract: In order to promote the performance of purifying effluent of fluidized-sand biofilter,and optimize technological operation data of biofilter. The new style fluidized-sand biofilter was developed, and the biofilter was applied to the Spotted parrotfish recirculating aquaculture systems,which was used micro glass bead as media. The removal effect of nutrient and organic in aquaculture water through fluidized-sand biofilter was discussed.The results showed that the biofilter realized the stability of the bed height, avoided the loss of the filter material , and optimization the flow pattern of internal filter. In mariculture conditions,the new style fluidized-sand biofilter could realize successfully start up after one month of natural hanging membrane. There was significant changes of the stuffing surface before and after the biofilm culturing,which was observed by scanning electron microscope.The nitrification of biofilter was mainly happened on the bottom of the bed. Under optimizing conditions,the average removal rate of TAN,NO2--N,BOD5 and SS were(48.7±5.23)%、(64.28±9.88)%、(59.19±4.98)% and (40.06±10.21)%, respectively,which showed a better performance of effluent treatment than normal biofilter.
