Abstract:

In order to study the effects of exogenous Put on seed germination of snap bean under salt stress, the snap bean variety ‘P16028’ was used as experimental material. Three treatments, distilled water control (CK), 100 mmol/L NaCl treatment (NaCl) and addition of 1 mmol/L Put under NaCl treatment (NaCl + 1 Put) were used to determine the germination potential, germination rate, germination index and physiological index. The results showed that compared with CK, salt stress led to a significant decrease of the germination potential, germination rate, germination index, and a downward trend of the activities of antioxidant enzymes SOD, POD and CAT. The contents of O2-, MDA, soluble protein, soluble sugar and proline increased, and seed germination was inhibited. The addition of exogenous Put significantly increased the germination potential, germination rate and germination index under salt stress, and also increased the activities of antioxidant enzymes SOD, POD and CAT, reduced the contents of O2- and MDA, increased the content of osmoregulatory substances, and improved the resistance of bean to salt stress. Therefore, the application of exogenous Put can alleviate the damage caused by salt stress and improve the salt tolerance of snap bean seeds, thus effectively promoting the germination of snap bean seeds.
