Abstract: The effects of genetic factors on the popularization of maize new varieties in Hebei Province have been studied through the analysis of the extending of major maize varieties and the investigation of representative maize growers. The results indicated that the integrated elite characters of the new variety play the main part in its popularization; the high potential variety should possess the characteristics like high yield, good quality, strong resistance to stresses, wide adaptability, and longer growth period, and among them the resistance to stresses and adaptability are the key factors determining the extending scale and the longevity of the variety, however plant structure have less to do with variety popularization; as an intrinsic factor, the genetic constitution determine the final results of variety extending. The achievement of this research can be referred for the new variety extending in Hebei Province.
