Abstract: Graceful netting is one of the important quality characteristics of rind netting muskmelon (Cucumis melo L.var. reticulatus Naud.), the formation of nets is closely related with the soil moisture content. In order to improve the netting muskmelon in marketable rate, exploring the suitable irrigating regulation of rind netting muskmelon in Beijing becomes a must. When comparing irrigation guiding by the real-time soil moisture content and by conventional experience, the rind netting muskmelon performed weaker in growth potential and yield, but significantly better in the fruit qualities and marketable rate, which fulfills the needs of high-end market better. In conclusion, the on-demand irrigation showed better. On the other hand, the timing and quantity of irrigation still needs further study.
