Abstract: In order to forecast the heavy rainfall weather processes by using the mesoscale numerical weather prediction system more precisely, and improve the short-term forecast capacity of the heavy rainfall weather process, the authors used the conventional high and surface meteorological data and NCEP reanalysis data, analyzed 5 heavy rainfall weather processes in the flood season in 2011 in Shanxi and conducted the simulated test for several times. The results showed that: 5 heavy rainfall weather processes in the flood season in 2011 had different circumstances, which were divided into 2 types: cold cloud precipitation and warm cloud precipitation; as far as the microphysical schemes was concerned, the simulation result of cold cloud precipitation using the WSM6 and Thompson scheme was more precise, and the simulation result of warm cloud precipitation using the Kessler warm rain scheme was more precise.
