Abstract: Planting ryegrass under trees to feed poultry is a compound eco-agricultural model. To optimize the clipping mode of ryegrass planted under trees, and get high yield and quality ryegrass, in this study, ryegrass planted under trees were used as materials and clipped with different clipping times (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 times). The growth characters, dry material accumulation, yield formation and quality of ryegrass under different treatments were compared. The results showed that: the fresh ryegrass and hay yield with clipping 4 times were the highest, as 86.53 t/hm2 and 11.83 t/hm2, respectively. And the fresh ryegrass and hay yield with clipping 5 times decreased by 10.27% and 7.79% , respectively. With the increase of clipping times, the nutritional content of cow dung, crude fat and crude ash increased gradually over time, and crude fiber content decreased gradually. In addition, the hay yield and quality of ryegrass planted under trees of the 2nd and 3rd clip were higher. Compared with ryegrass planted in grassland, the yield and quality of ryegrass planted under trees were lower. Under this experiment condition, ryegrass planted under trees with clipping 4 times could have both high yield and good quality, and the growth time of the 2nd and 3rd clip were extended appropriately, which could benefit high yield and good quality.
