Abstract: A strain of pathogenic swine streptococcus was isolated and identified from dead piglets in a case of a pig farm. The identification was achieved by phenotypic, biochemical specificity experiment and antimicrobial sensitivity analysis. The results indicate that the pathogen is treptococcus. The colonies of streptococcus suis were purified and liquid-cultured, then the DNA was extracted and objective fragments. The results indicated the strain was swine streptococcus suis type 2.
