Abstract: Changnong 35 is a new variety developed by the millet research institute of Shanxi academy of agricultural sciences. It has passed examinations by the Shanxi provincial crop variety appraisal committees in January 2004, and by the state in May 2005. Changnong 35 is a variety of fine quality, high yield, disease resistant, green-leaf maturing, good agronomic characters and wide adaptability. It has been apprised as gradeⅠmillet due to its rich nutrition, golden color and good commercial character. It is suitable to grow in areas of above 150 days of frost-free in Loess Plateau in northern China and in areas of spring-sowing medium-late maturing. The results of our pilot and extension work show that Changnong 35 will have a promising market and application future.
