Abstract: The Colorado potato beetle (CPB), Leptinotarsa decemlineata, was one of the most important quarantine pest causing considerable economic losses of potato industries in the world. The pest has not detected in Shaanxi Province at present. The objective of this study is to assess the potential risk analysis (PRA) of L. decemlineata to different regions and develop quarantine countermeasures in Shaanxi Province. In according with international pest risk analysis methods, the PRA of this pest in the three geographic regions of Shaanxi Province was analyzed and assessed, which based on distribution of the tomato plant and meteorological data in these regions. The results showed that, the risk (R) values of the pest in north of Shaanxi, Guanzhong Region, south of Shaanxi were 2.331, 2.051 and 2.149, respectively. In conclusion, the Colorado potato beetle was a highly dangerous pest in Shaanxi Province. The quarantine countermeasures were proposed to prevent introduction and spread invading of the beetle in Shaanxi in view of above results.
