Abstract: The paper aims to solve the problem of two-line hybrid rice seed in situ production in Chengdu. Using meteorological diagnosis method based on risk analysis, the authors analyzed the security and suitability in the 3 key periods of two-line hybrid rice seed production (thermo-sensitive period of the two-line male sterile lines, heading and flowering period of the parents, seeds maturation and harvesting period) of 13 districts, cities or counties in Chengdu, and got the suitable areas and time ranges for the two-line hybrid rice seed production. The results showed that: the comprehensive risk index of heading and flowering in most of the time ranges analyzed was less than 4.0, the time intervals were 44-95 days, which provided sufficient time intervals for the selection of safe time ranges during heading and flowering period for two-line hybrid rice seed production. So, the suitability of the seed production base was mainly determined by the thermo-sensitive period. At the temperature threshold of 22.5℃, the most suitable seed production areas for two-line hybrid rice were Jintang, Longquanyi, Qionglai, Pujiang, Shuangliu and Xinjin; at the temperature threshold of 23℃, the suitable areas were Xinjin, Jintang, Xindu, Dayi and Shuangliu; at the temperature threshold of 23.5℃ and 24.0℃, the areas suitable were very rare in Chengdu. If seed production of two-line hybrid rice is conducted in Chengdu, to lower the seed purity risk, the producer should choose those two-line male sterile lines with the critical sterility inducing temperature (CSIT) lower than 23℃ and relatively short thermo-sensitive period.
