Abstract:

To study the external morphology, types and distribution characteristics of ovipositor, compound eye and mouthpart of Rhyacionia pinicolana (Doubleday), the shoots of scotch pine, Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica, damaged by moths were collected from forest fields, and then the moths were raised to adults indoor, the adults were observed with scanning electron microscopy of QUANTA-200. The results showed that four sensillas were indentified in the ovipositors, compound eyes and mouthparts. The sensilla trichodea (STⅠ, STⅡ, STⅣ) were found in ovipositors. The sensilla trichodea (STⅢ), sensilla styloconica (SS) and coeloconical sensilla (coe) were found in mouthparts. The sensilla basiconca (SBa) were found in compound eyes. The 4 types of sensillas in Rhyacionia pinicolana (Doubleday) are not identical with those observed in the same parts of other lepidoptera in terms of morphology, type and distribution.

Key words: Rhyacionia pinicolana (Doubleday), ovipositor, compound eye, mouthpart, sensilla
