The Function, Structure and Regulation of Microbial Community in Biofloc: A Review

Abstract:

To further explore the nature of the biofloc, and promote the development and application of the biofloc technology, this paper analyzes the three aspects of the biofloc: the function, the structure and the artificial regulation. It is concluded that an artificial regulation of the microbial community structure in the aquacultural water can be achieved by the condition adjustment, such as carbon source type, carbon-nitrogen ratio, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and etc., so as to attain the purification of the aquacultural water, the biocontrol of the aquacultural species and the improvement of feed utilization rate. And it is pointed out that the interaction among the microflora and the dynamic changes of species and its precise regulation should be studied more deeply.
