Abstract:

As the primary factor of agricultural production, information resource is also an important field of urban-rural integration development. It is of theoretical value and practical significance to understand the availability of urban and rural information resources. Based on the survey data of 3296 urban and rural residents in 31 provinces and autonomous regions (except Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan), this paper makes an empirical analysis on the availability of urban and rural information resources and its influencing factors in China. The results show that there is a big difference in the availability of information resources between urban and rural residents in China, and the largest difference index is in the western region. The availability of information resources is significantly affected by gender, education level, family income level, network access and signal intensity. Therefore, we should combine the current development needs of different regions and the characteristics of different residents to accelerate the integration of urban and rural information resources by establishing information resource access channels and formulating targeted information resource application and promotion measures.
