Abstract:

The study aims to combine horticultural therapy with landscape gardening, use plants and the external environment to stimulate the human senses, thus help people relieve fatigue and stress, keep physical and mental well-being, and prevent and treat diseases. Through consulting relevant documents, this paper explored the meaning, type, function of horticultural therapy and its other theoretical contents. From April to May in 2018, we went to Tangshan South Lake Park, Dazhao Park, Mount Fenghuang Park and other places to carry out a field study on the development of horticultural therapy in urban landscaping. At the same time, a questionnaire about horticultural therapy was designed and provided both online and in South Lake Park. By analyzing the results of the collected questionnaires, we summarized the suitable application modes of horticultural therapy in urban landscape, such as setting up different functional parks, including experience park, perception park and special garden, and pointed out that from the perspective of landscape design, the sensory stimulation of horticultural therapy should be better developed to improve people’s physical function through horticultural experience.
