Abstract:

This study was conducted to discover the status quo of the digitalization development of university journals concerning agriculture in China, and to find out their differences and deficiencies of the digitalization development by comparison, aiming to analyze their overall development level and existing problems as well as put forward suggestions. Altogether 33 university journals concerning agriculture in China were investigated, which were also included in Chinese S&T Journal Citaton Reports (Natural Science) (2018 Edition) based on Wanfang database. Statistical methods of network survey were adopted on their digitalization construction. Results show as follows: under the trend of digital publishing development, the construction of value-added services of 33 university journals concerning agriculture in China has made some progress. The websites of the journals and their online editing systems have been basically popularized. The online publication, back publication browsing and online first of the journals have achieved some results. Their WeChat official accounts, RSS subscriptions, and E-mail alerts are under construction. However, there are still existing problems, such as the uneven construction of the websites, less service content, poor service level and insufficient talent team construction. It is suggested that the digitalization development of university journals concerning agriculture could be improved by increasing the capital investment, strengthening the journal website construction, integrating the journal resources and enhancing the digitalization development, as well as reinforcing the construction of digital publishing talent teams, and assisting the construction of university journals concerning agriculture through the first-class discipline development.
