Transection Structure and Characteristics of Wild Tea Tree Leaves in Guangxi

Abstract:

The leaves of wild tea trees in Guangxi were dissected, and their characteristics of drought resistance, cold resistance, and resistance to disease and insect pests were analyzed from the perspective of anatomy, so as to provide a feasible basis for rapid identification of resources and new variety breeding of tea tree in Guangxi. The leaves of 21 wild tea strains in seven counties (districts) of Guangxi were studied by using modified paraffin sectioned method and observed under optical microscope. The thickness of leaf vein, leaf, epidermal cell cuticle, spongy tissue and palisade tissue varied with different strains. The ratio of leaf vein thickness to leaf thickness was 1.62-7.06, the epidermal cell cuticle thickness was 1.63-4.21 μm, the epidermal cell thickness was 14.83-30.17 μm, the ratio of epidermal cell thickness to spongy tissue thickness was 0.08-0.21, and the ratio of the palisade tissue thickness to spongy tissue thickness was 0.31-1.04. Liubao 01 and Liubao 02 had the strongest comprehensive resistance, followed by Bainiu 01, Kaishancha 01 and Kaishancha 02, which all had strong drought resistance, cold resistance and resistance to disease and insect pests.
