Effects of Supplementary Lighting in Veraison Period on Fruit Quality of Table Grape ‘Kyoho’ and ‘Jumeigui’

Abstract:

Aiming at the poor fruit quality (poor coloring) caused by light and temperature adversity in the production of facility grape, ‘Kyoho’ and ‘Jumeigui’ were treated with daily supplementary lighting (4:00-5:00 and 19:00-22:00) in 2 vineyards during the veraison period. After daily supplementary lighting for 4 hours, the coloring of ‘Kyoho’ and ‘Jumeigui’ were deeper and more uniform. And the color index of red grape (CIRG) value of the grape fruits was increased under the supplementary lighting. After the treatment, the anthocyanin content of the grape peel increased by 5.00-19.42 μg/g; the soluble solid content of grape fruits increased by 0.5-1.7 °Brix; the glucose content increased by 0.42-3.43 mg/g. Then, the maturity period was 5-7 days earlier under the treatment. Above all, treating grapes with supplementary lighting in the veraison period could obviously improve the coloring and the quality of red grapes, and has good application value in the production of high-quality grapes.
