Abstract: Two planting types, interplant wheat in paddy (IP) and conventional drilling (CD) were adopted to study the effects of interplant wheat in paddy and nitrogen application on grain yield and quality of medium gluten wheat, Yangmai 10. The results were as follows: planting types significantly influenced grain yield and quality of medium gluten wheat. With the same application of nitrogen, The type of IP, compared with CD, gets higher content of starch and starch components in grain and lower grain yield, the content of grain protein, grain protein yield and the main quality indexes including milling quality, flour quality and paste traits. The type of IP was unfavorable for the grain quality of medium gluten wheat. Increasing the amount of N application and the portion of topdressing N after elongation stage is appropriate for interplanting medium wheat in paddy in the Southern Region of Huaihe River.
