Abstract: The paper aims to study the influence of different plant hormones on the browning rate of explants during the tissue culture process of mature oil palm leaves. Taking the mature oil palm leaves as the explants, we treated them with different hormones as 2,4-D, NAA, IBA, IAA, KT, TDZ and 6-BA, to analyze the browning rate of oil palm leaves under induction. The results showed that: (1) the 6-BA and IBA had the highest browning rate for mature leaves than other kinds of plant hormones, and the browning rate was 66.98% and 65.35%, respectively; (2) the browning rate of mature leaves treated with KT was significantly lower than that treated with 6-BA, IBA and TDZ; (3) the browning rate of mature leaves treated with 2,4-D, NAA, IAA had no significant differences. It is suggested that KT should be given priority under the condition of similar callus induction rate.
