Study on the Flower Blooming Law of Three Fruit Coconut Varieties

Abstract:

The paper aims to study the law of coconut flower blooming and fruit setting. Taking ‘Wenye No.2’, ‘Wenye No.3’ and ‘Wenye No.4’ as materials, and the number of inflorescences and female flowers, and the fruit-setting rate in different months were counted. The results showed that: under the condition of no water and fertilizer management, for ‘Wenye No.2’, there were 12.85 inflorescences and 234.93 female flowers per year, and the fruit-setting rate of 8-month-old fruit was 19.67%. For ‘Wenye No.3’, there were 12.36 inflorescences and 193.64 female flowers per year, and the fruit-setting rate of 8-month-old fruit was 18.83%. For ‘Wenye No.4’, there were 16.05 inflorescences and 415.10 female flowers per year, and the fruit-setting rate of 8-month-old fruit was 9.52%. In the actual production, under the condition of sufficient supply of water and fertilizer, all the 3 varieties could produce more than 100 fruits per year on average, which shows that the water and fertilizer management has a very obvious effect on the yield of coconut.
