Abstract:

To explore a scientific irrigation system for the cultivation of jujube in arid desert area of Minqin, the effects of four irrigation measures (adequate irrigation, 80% mild regulated deficit irrigation, 60% moderate regulated deficit irrigation and 40% severe regulated deficit irrigation) on growth and yield of 4-year-old and densely planted jujube in the growth period were studied in field using drop irrigation. The results showed that the jujub trees could normally grow under water supply ranging from 425.7 to 545.7 mm, their plant height, shoot length and stem diameter increased with the increase of irrigation amount. Mild regulated deficit irrigation could improve the longitudinal diameter, transverse diameter and single fruit mass of jujube, increase the yield by 7.8% and the water use efficiency by 16.3%. Mild regulated deficit irrigation could effectively improve the yield and water use efficiency of jujube in arid desert area of Minqin.
