Abstract:

To study the external morphology and the type of sensilla of adult Scambus brevicornis’s antennae, the sex difference was compared by scanning electron microscope. The results showed that the antennae of the adult S. brevicornis was flagelliform and the antennae were composed of scape, pedicle and flagellum. The female adult had 21 subsegments and the male adult had 25 subsegments. There were six sensillas on the adult antennae, including sensilla trichodea, sensilla placodea, sensilla coeloconica, sensilla chaetica, B?hm bristles and sensilla campaniformia. There were sexual differences in the density between male and female adults.
