Abstract:

In order to reveal the differences between female and male plants of Vernicia montana, the leaves of V. montana at flowering stage were selected as samples, and ethanol extraction, anthrone colorimetric method, folin reagent assay, nitrogen blue tetrazole method, guaiacol method, and enzyme-linked immuno-sorbent assays were used to determine the contents of chlorophyll, soluble sugar, total phenol, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, peroxidase (POD) activity and endogenous hormones in the leaves of female and male plants at flowering stage. The results showed that the contents of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, total chlorophyll, soluble sugar and total phenol in the leaves of the female plants were higher than those of the male plants, but the difference was not significant (P>0.05). The peroxidase (POD) activity, ZR content and IAA content in male leaves were significantly higher than those in female leaves plants (P<0.05), which were closely related to the sex of V. montana.
