Research Progress of Functional Ingredients on Adlay

Abstract: Adlay resource is very rich in China and has great pharmacy application value. To clarify adlay main functional ingredients and explore its utility value, this paper summarizes research progress in adlay functional ingredients including functional amino acid, protein, oil, vitamin, mineral element, polysaccharide, polyphenols, etc., and points out that compared with seed kernel parts of adlay, the non-seed kernel parts of adlay contain the same functional ingredients which can enhance immunity and inhibit tumor growth, moreover, have larger biomass and wider utilization prospects. At last, we presents the idea of using non-seed kernel parts of adlay to substitute seed kernel as feeds, medicines, food and cosmetics materials as well. The paper will provide references for further exploitation and utilization of adlay.
