Abstract:

To further master the growth and development characteristics of millet in the semi-arid region of Hinggan League, and find out suitable sowing areas and sowing period to guide scientific breeding and production, In this study, millet variety ‘Dajinmiao’ mainly planted in the semi-arid areas of Hinggan League was used as the experimental material, and 10 stage sowing experiments were carried out in three plots, respectively in the central, southern and eastern Hinggan League. The results showed that the fertility days were shortened along with the extension of the sowing period, and the fertility period in Tuquan County was shortened by 56 days. According to the physiological characteristics of ‘dajinmiao’, Tuquan County was more suitable for planting. The number of growth days varied with the delay of sowing time. The sowing period mainly affected the three leaves-jointing stage and the heading-milk ripening stage, which were the key periods for the growth and development of millet in Hinggan League. The planting period before and after June 5 could make full use of the heat during the growth period and meet the needs of scientifically planting millet. The sowing periods had different effects on the average fresh weight per plant, average dry weight per plant, average panicle length per plant and theoretical yield of millet. Sowing on May 29 and June 5 could achieve relatively high yield, and earlier or late sowing could reduce the yield.
