Abstract: The study has undertaken to investigate the soil microbe populations and enzyme avtivities at different soil layers in poplar Zhonglin-46 plantation communities of Wenan county. The soil microbe populations and enzyme activites at 0~20cm depth were higher than that of 20~40cm and 40~60cm.During the experiment time, from Apr to Nov in 2006 ,the total of the microbe populations and enzyme activities had shown a trend of high-low-high .There is a good correlation between the microbial populations and enzyme activities. With the depth added, the microbe populations and enzyme activities declined continually.
