  Studies on Mutagenic Effect of High Space on Sorghum GONG Zhen-ping, LIU Zi-hua, LIU Gen-qi, MENG Qing-xiang, LIU Zhen-xing 2003, 19 (6):  16-16.  Abstract + ( 1626 )   PDF ( 326496KB )   ( 603 ) RAPD analysis for mutated seeds of Tanghui-28 generations, which were returned by No.17 returning satellite,plus its field inspection and isozyme, has been carried out. The results were as follows: (1) a biggest mutated individual which was characterized by selected generations’ rich varieties, stable genetic traits, high yielding as well as disease resistance. (2) Excellent selected lines, which combinations’ yield was much bigger than that of contrast, could be used to make high yielding and disease resistance cross a parental lines. (3) There were 2～4 generations earlier ordinary ,that was also to say ,high space mutation could make the breeding programme develop in advance. (4) Their were signifficant genetic differerces among the mutated generations and its selected generations in some areas, such as esterase isozyme,cytochrome exidase isozyme as well as isozyme vigor. (5) RAPD analysis showed that selected lines by space mutation method varied signifficantly in DNA level.

  Analysis of the mutants of Fengjie navel orange（Citrus sinensis Osbeck）by AFLP ,Luo An-cai, Li Chun-fan ,Huang ren-hu,Li Dao-gao 2003, 19 (6):  20-20.  Abstract + ( 1676 )   PDF ( 321351KB )   ( 819 ) Genetic variabilities of the low-acid mutants and late-mature mutant of the Fengjie navel orange were examined by AFLP technology .By using 64 pairs of selective primers ,5336 bands ,among them , 7 specific bands in low-acid mutant ,2 specific bands in late-mature mutant were detected. The sequencing of these specific bands and their Blastp analysis showed :the trait of low acid in fruit in the low-acid mutant of Fengjie navel orange could result from the deficiency or mutation of the gene encoding Na+/H+ antiporter-like protein, while the deficiency or mutation of the genes encoding the flower development protein cycloidea (cyc3) and cytoplasmic aconitate hydratase could be responsible for the late mature of late-mature mutant .

Holub, the actions of the extract from T. kirilowii w ith 60% ethanol solution (EX) to murine L1210 cell were studied in vitro in the aspects of cellular culture curve and Trypan Blue resisting rate. The results sh owed that the subjects at concentrations of 1.0μg/ml（EX）、0.1μg/ml（MO）、1. 0μg/mL（QU） and 10.0μg/ml（CY）respectively gave certain effects against L121 0 cells in repression of proliferation velocity and vigor (p＜0.01).

The results showed that there are character of growth rapidity in the early and middle period, tiller earliness and strong capacity, forming multiple ears with high percentage of earbearing tiller; beginning earliness of ear differentiation and process rapidity, forming early cropping with earing earliness for Jinmai 74. The young panicle growth and grain filling of Jinmai 74 are faster in the middle and later period. Its time of filling period is the same as check variety. It can keep away from dry heat wind, and there is high and steady grain weight. The character of strong multiple ears resulted in the culture character of wide range of sowing time and strong adaptability for this variety.

The yield and quality of three varieties of wheat were studied in 9 different water and fertilizer treatment. The results show that there are significant difference in quality and yield of different genotype wheat. The yield and quality of wheat were mostly determined by the genotype, and water or fertilizer have significant effect on yield and grains quality. The variation of grains quality and yield of different genotype wheat are different to the water and fertilizer treatment.

  The Effect of Ae.kotschyi Cytoplasm on Seed Germination and Seedling Emergence of Wheat Zhan Ke-hui Ren Ya Wang Lian-hua Ma Su-qin 2003, 19 (6):  55-55.  Abstract + ( 1721 )   PDF ( 262170KB )   ( 544 ) The sterile lines with Ae.kotschyi cytoplasm (shortened:K-type) and their corresponding preserve lines, restoring lines and hybrids were used in this paper to study the difference in seed germination and seedling emergence between Ae.kotschyi cytoplasm and T.aestivum cytoplasm. The results showed that there was no significant difference between the two cytoplasm in seed germination and seedling emergence of 3cm planting depth, but that it was different with different nuclear background in seedling emergence of 6cm planting depth —which of the sterile line Yumai No. 3 and its hybrid was a little higher, and which of the sterile line S43 and its hybrid was significantly lower.

Under waterlogging stress , there appeared to have a close corrdation between the tissue ability to controol lipid peroxxidation and its ability to retain solutes.

  Study on Transgenic Bt Cotton Using Kanamycin as an Indirect Identification Technique Indoors Zhu Jiabao,Yang Kesheng,Chan Yankun,Liu Fangzhi,Jiang Benli,Xu Daoqing 2003, 19 (6):  69-69.  Abstract + ( 1728 )   PDF ( 240047KB )   ( 603 ) A simple,cheap,and efficient technique for transgenic Bt cotton using kanamycin as an indirect identification marker in the laborotary is tested.The result showed that kanamycin could be used in the laborotary to test whether or not a plant is resistant.Seed of transgenic Bt cotton were cultured on sand bed containing 4000mg/L kanamycin solution for six days.The cotyledons of resistant varieties remained normal green color,whilst these of the commercial varieties all turned yellow.This technique is especially usful for the purity test of transgenic Bt cotton before the seed is sold. Meanwhile,the hypocotyls and fresh weigh of the cotton seedling were affected by the kanamycin in some degree.

The results showed that must varieties performed well in term of the plant height and content of protein and some farinograph properties . The correlation analysis indicate that only the significance negative relation between plant height and 1000-grain weight among studied four agronomic characters and some significance negative or positive relation were dedected among 8 qualities traits excepted water absorption. Three varieties with excellent quality have screened for further appraising and utilization

The impurity affected wheat field scene and reduced the yield. The peasants had to replace the varieties frequently. This situation increased production cost and also made the varieties extension more difficult. The impurity investigation was conducted in 15 counties of 7 cities in Hebei, model test and production demonstration were also done. The result showed that the relation between impurity popularization, level and the yield was positively correlated. The main mixed wheat types, which caused impurity, were mainly spread by the seeds of farm varieties of hexaploid tricicum. The control techniques were list with the seed purity control as the key.

The results were showed as follows. The elongation of leaf blades and leaf sheaths of the treated plants was inhibited at 3~7-leaf stage, and the higher of the concentration, the stronger of the effect. At the same time, as compared to the control, the plant in uniconazole-treatment showed an appearance of high quality plant with increased specific leaf weight, leaf width and stem thickness as well as root number and root length, the root dry weight, and 40mg.kg-1 was the best.

Showed it had good characteristic of muti-resistance, Lys 0.46%, Pro 11.53%, early mature (it was six days than Nongda 108), Yield as well as normal maize, food and feeding dual purpose. The shaandan No.17 was recommitted to be authorized by National Committee of Crop Variety. It is fit for growing in shaanxi Province and Huanghuihai areas where planting corn in spring, summer. Authors alternatively used backcrossing and selfed crossing as main heterotic pattern of normal maize combination way improved huangaisi×Lancaster line and introduced subtropical germplasm into the parents boarding the germplasm base. Its way was excel and crossing material was new. Shaandan No.17 was the first-rate normal maize, food maize, feeding maize respectively and the second-rate QPM and would be the new released QPM variety instead of main cultivars.

The variety had been largely used in production, and it’s accumulated planting area had covered 2000hm2 by 2002. And the results of our studies showed that the variety was a good hybrid parent, and some good strains had been obtained from it.

The result of experiment show that liquid chlorine in great does poisoned root, and reduced obviously activity of roots. Other disinfectors have no effect on activity of roots, but affect livingness of Maize Root-population. And the right dose of liquid chlorine is 8mg/l，the right dose of chlorine dioxide is 6mg/l, the right dose of mixture is （4＋2）mg/l.

In 2000~2002, the regional test, product test results showed the characteristic of high-stable yield, early mature, disease resistance, good adaptation. The adaptive planting areas were the middle and west parts of Guanzhong plain, Shaanxi province. The optimum desnity range was 45000~50000 seeding / ha. It has been authorized by Crop Authorization Committee of Shaanxi Province in March 2003 and was named Shaandan 21.

The suitable spraying consistency of MET (Multi-effect Trlazole ) was 100ug/g. The pods amounts of single plant, weight of 100 fruits, ratioes of full fruits and two shelled peanuts can be increased greatly, the growth of the main stem and the branch development can be restrained effectively and the yield of peanuts can be increased by spraying MET at the end of peanuts full flower. The best combination of cultivation density of peanuts and spraying consistency of MET is 180 thousands cave/hm2 ×100ug/g , the yield will be 5703.1 kg/hm2.

This article discusses these following factors. Over phosphorus fertilizer apply accelerates agricultural non-point pollution which improves the risk of eutrophication of surface waters. The heavy metal in phosphorus fertilizer has influence on soil environment and products quality which affect human health.

  Effect of salinities on seed germination of halophyte Suaeda Salsa Deyu Duan Xiaojing Liu Fenglian Feng Cunzhen Li 2003, 19 (6):  168-168.  Abstract + ( 1900 )   PDF ( 245071KB )   ( 952 ) The study was carried out to determine the germination ability of the seeds of halophyte Suaeda salsa, which were treated with various concentration of sodium chloride and natural mixed salt solutions, salinity ranging from 2.93 g/L to 35.1 g/L. For each treatment, rate of germination and of germination recovery were compared. Rate of seed germination decreased as salinity increased and the optimal germination was obtained in distilled water. The natural mixed salinity was less inhibitory than the others to seed germination. After the non-germinated seeds from all the salinity treatments were transferred to distilled water, the finial rate of germination was more than 85% of that of original distilled water control. The results showed that salinity was a reversible osmotic inhibition to seed germination and has no much effect on seed germination ability. The rate of germination recovery increased with an increase of the salt concentration.

Pigmented onion seedling has significant high Chlorophyll contains than unpigmented under visible light germination condition, but it looks same by naked eye, no color different between each onion seedling.

In this paper, we studied the effect of different light intensity on browning of rose initially cultured in vitro. Our results showed that the browning index of rose decreased and the percentage of germination increased after field treatment, especially in the light intensity of 5,333±1,751 Lx. Compared with the light intensity of 5,333±1,751 Lx and 63,078±1,651 Lx, the activity of PPO of rose under natural light intensity showed no significant difference whereas the content of phenolic substances was much higher than those treated with shaded illumination. The co-efficiency analysis demonstrated that there was no obvious relation between the activity of phenol oxidase and content of phenolic substances.

The results showed that: structure of flower organ of malt sterile line in radish is different from its maintainers and normal plant (self-hybrid plant). Anther’s development has three types: they are yellow degenerative corolla, abortive pollen, and half-abortive pollen. The flowering period of winter radish is 30－45 days. Flowering amounts a day is significantly positively related with temperature. Seed setting rate is the highest when the stigma that of the day before flowering hybridized with the flowering anther, the flowering of spring summer radish is influenced by many factors such as temperature and sunlight. When the temperature is high it can flower partly, but anther growth is not normal, the flowering period is short, and seed setting rate is low. Self-hybrid degeneration of radish is concerned with declining of the pollen.

  Responses of Micropropagated Apple Cultivars and Stock to Thermotherapy for Viruses Elimination Cheng Yuqin, XuJian, ZhanYong, Lie Huichao, Shun Yanwu, Shun Qinhuai, 2003, 19 (6):  216-216.  Abstract + ( 1612 )   PDF ( 216901KB )   ( 552 ) Responses of apple cultivars and stock in vitro for viruses elimination by different heat therapy regime in combination with tip propagation were studied. The results showed that great differences were noted between materials in their tolerance of heat. Resistance of "Fuji" was stronger than that of Malus xiaojinensis, and "Stark Delicious" suffered from constant heat therapy. However, Diurnal alternating temperature treatment availed to prolong survival rate of plants throughout the whole period of treatment, which led to 0% death rate. When the length of shoot tips was about 1mm, the percentage of viable apexes did not obviously correlated with materials, regimes or days of heat therapy, but possibly correlated with its surround conditions such as temperature. Rates of virus-elimination under same treatment differed from plant to plant. M. xiaojinensis listed the top followed by "Fuji", while "Stark Delicious" ranked number three. However, viruses were always inactivated in the same order: first apple chlorotic leaf spot virus (ACLSV), followed by apple stem grooving virus (ASGV). Concerning about death rate of materials during heat treatment and virus elimination rate, 20-day constant heat treatment or 30-day alternating temperature therapy was effective for M. xiaojinensis to eliminate ACLSV and ASGV. Virus-free plant of "Fuji" favorite resulted from 30-day constant heat treatment or alternating temperature therapy with treatment period of more than 30 days. But for "Stark Delicious", an alternating temperature therapy regime was more suitable.
