Abstract: The paper aims to study farmers’perceptions of climate change in hilly area of loess plateau in northern Shaanxi. The authors adopted questionnaire survey and used statistical description method to deal with the results. Combining with the contrastive analysis of monitoring data from weather stations, the authors analyzed farmers’perceptions of climate change and the acclimatization. The results showed that 33.84% of the farmers believed that temperatures tended to rise; 54.9% of the residents thought local precipitation decreased; 26.3% of the farmers believed that natural disasters increased; nearly 40% of the famers thought that climate change impacted on agriculture increasingly or significantly. There were significant differences in the perceptions of climate change and natural disasters among farmers with different educational levels. In order to adapt to climate change, farmers have taken steps of adjusting the planting structure independently, introducing new varieties, purchasing agricultural insurance, working part-time or immigrating.
