Progress of Potato virus Y Strain Classification and Analysis of Profile of Potato virus Y Strains Infecting Potato in China

摘要: 为了更科学、合理地检测、检疫马铃薯Y病毒(PVY)株系,和全面掌握侵染中国大田马铃薯的PVY株系情况,总结了PVY株系的分类方法,分析了中国大田马铃薯感染的PVY株系谱。认为目前广泛使用的血清型划分法、基因组重组与否划分法、PTNRD效应划分法、过敏反应互作基因划分法,以及Singh等提出的株系群划分法都无法对PVY株系予以完全合理的划分。提出有必要鉴定PVY基因组中决定马铃薯病理效应的基序并通过对基序测序来鉴定PVY株系,通过对株系间基因组差异区段的短序列测序来鉴定PVY株系是目前最接近基序测序分类法的思路。指出感染中国大田马铃薯的PVY目前有PVYO、PVYN、PVYNTN、PVYN:O、PVYN-Wi和PVYNW这6种株系,隶属于2个株系群PVYO和PVYN,其中PVYN株系和PVYN株系群病样占绝大多数,以非重组株系为主,但重组株系已占一定比例,其发展趋势值得关注。

Abstract: In order to scientifically and reasonably inspect and quarantine Potato virus Y (PVY) strains and know the profile of PVY strains infecting potato in China, the currently used PVY strain classification methods were reviewed, and all the reported PVY isolates from potato in China were analyzed. The study pointed out that the four widely used classification methods at present (classification by serotypes, classification based on genome recombination, classification based on potato tuber necrotic ringspot disease, classification based on hypersensitive resistance genes), and the classification method by strain groups suggested by Singh et al, could not fully and well classify the reported PVY strains. It was suggested that the specific sequences in the PVY genomes which encoded the motifs to determine the pathogenic effects on potato were necessarily to be elucidated and used to identify PVY strains. At present, the method by sequencing short, specifically different genome sequences among PVY strains might be most close to the potential pathogenic motif encoding sequence method. The study also pointed out that six PVY strains (PVYO, PVYN, PVYNTN, PVYN:O, PVYN- Wi and PVYNW) had successfully infected the potato grown in the fields in China. PVYN was the predominant one of them. These six PVY strains could be sorted into two strain groups (PVYO and PVYN) and PVYN group was the predominant one. Among the reported PVY isolates, most were non-recombinant strains. But as recombinant strains also accounted for a certain proportion, their development trend deserved more attention.
