Abstract:

Photographing began on the first day of incubation, from the 7th day, we studied the whole process of embryonic development of Pelodiscus sinensis by continuous anatomical observation, and analyzed the changes in some organs of embryos during incubation. The results showed that: the entire incubation period of Pelodiscus sinensis was 46 days, based on the incubation time, morphological characteristics and the change of internal structure of embryo, we divided the development process of the entire embryo into 26 stages; the stages criteria from the 2nd to the 13th were phased according to the morphological changes of the yolk sac vascular area, eyes, and heart; the stages criteria from the 14th to 26th were mainly based on the changes of the limbs, carapace and plastron. We described the morphological features of each period in detail, and compared typical features of each period corresponding to some detailed pictures. In conclusion, it could shape a more comprehensive understanding of the whole incubation process of Pelodiscus sinensis to describe the key phenotypic characteristics of embryonic development at different stages.
