Application of Blockchain Technology in the Field of Agricultural Products Traceability

Abstract:

The purpose is to combine blockchain technology with agricultural products traceability to solve food safety problems and promote the healthy development of agriculture. The reasons of frequent food safety problems in China were analyzed, the necessity of agricultural product traceability was demonstrated, the concept and main characteristics of blockchain technology were elaborated, the formation and development process of agricultural traceability system in major developed countries and in China were systematically reviewed, and the viewpoint of combining blockchain technology with agricultural traceability system was put forward. Through in-depth discussion on the important application cases of blockchain technology in the field of agricultural traceability, two major impacts of the application of blockchain technology in agricultural traceability system were pointed out. Considering the advantages and disadvantages of the application of blockchain technology, finally, this paper put forward four suggestions on the application and development of blockchain technology in China’s agricultural traceability system, hoping to provide useful reference for future development of blockchain technology in China’s agricultural field.
