Abstract:

This paper aims to explore the effects of drip irrigation, flood irrigation and sprinkler irrigation on the quality of tobacco leaves, so as to improve tillage technologies for hilly dryland crops. Based on the data of the 2020 Panzhihua field survey and the cost-benefit data of Panzhihua Tobacco Company, this paper used multiple linear regression to study whether irrigation methods have significant different influence on tobacco leaf quality. The study found that drip irrigation could improve flue-cured tobacco quality. By using drip irrigation facilities, the average proportion of upper-class tobacco leaves increased by 7.3% per rural household, and the average income of tobacco planting increased by 14.8%. In addition, there was an inverse relationship between tobacco planting years and tobacco quality. The expansion of tobacco planting scale would increase the proportion of upper-class tobacco leaves per rural household. In tobacco planting, increasing investment and subsidies to agricultural irrigation facilities and enhancing the facilities' utilization can not only improve the quality of tobacco production but also increase farmers' income.
