Genomics-based Approaches to Improve Drought Tolerance of Crops

Abstract: With the development of genomics, identification and cloning of genes related to drought tolerance using large-scale sequencing information for the improvement of crop yield is of great importance. Tolerance of crops to drought are quantitatively inherited, the discovery of quantitative trait locus (QTL) plays a central role in their improvement through molecular marker-assisted selection. This paper comprehensively describes the recent progress in the identification of drought-related genes and their related functional genomics. The trends in the research of drought tolerance of crops are discussed in this review.
