Effects of Different Plant Cytokinin on Antioxidant Activity and Quality of ‘Fuji’ Apple Fruit

Abstract: In order to increase the total antioxidant substance content in ‘Fuji’ apple (Malus pumila Mill) fruit, increase the fruit nutritive value and explore the health care function of apple fruit, the effect of different plant cytokinin on the total antioxidant activity and quality of ‘Fuji’ apple fruit were analyzed with fresh mature apples in fruit expanding period. The results showed that the content of total antioxidant activity, total sugar, total acid and protein content could be increased by spraying of kinetin, zeatin and 6-benzyl adenine on leaves. Among them, the kinetin treatment had the most significant effect, followed by 6-benzyl adenine and zeatin. The study showed that the spraying of different plant cytokinin on leaves could increase the total antioxidant activity in mature fruit and improve fruit quality. The results could provide theoretical foundation and technical support for the production of antioxidant substance rich apples.
