Abstract: To improve the recognition ability of red edge and short wave infrared spectrum on maize and soybean, and study the influence rule of resolution ratio and spectrum on crop recognition, data of Rapideye in Germany and Landsat-OLI in America were used to carry out the maximum likelihood classification of three crops (maize, soybean and others). The results showed that the overall accuracy (OA) was improved from 73.1% to 80.5% after adding the red edge band to Rapideye imagery. The OA was improved from 72.9% to 75.4% after adding short wave infrared band to Landsat-OLI imagery. Multi-temporal data could effectively improve the OA of medium resolution satellite imagery due to the lack of short wave infrared and red edge bands.
