Abstract:

To investigate the effect of different fertilizers on plant growth, SPAD, yield, quality and sucrose metabolism of melon under protected cultivation condition, cultivar ‘Cuixi’ was sprayed with four different fertilizers (mainly different in N-P2O5-K2O ratio, T1: 15-15-15, T2: 20-20-20, T3: 15-10-17, T4: 15-6-35), common urea was used as control (T0). The results showed that compared with common urea (T0), the difference of plant growth was not significant under the four fertilizers’ treatment, and the SPAD increased. There were significant differences under T3 and T4, in which, soluble solids, soluble sugar, amino acid, glucose, fructose, sucrose and glucose contents, the activities of sucrose phosphate synthase (SPS) and sucrose synthetase (SS) increased significantly, and nitrate content decreased significantly. The results showed that the fruit yield of melon under T3 and T4 treatment was nearly to that of control (T0), and the comprehensive quality was improved.
