Abstract:

The effects of adding organic waste from agriculture and forestry on seedling growth were quantitatively evaluated by the Meta-analysis based on 64 literature. The results show that the organic waste from forestry could significantly improve the total porosity (+10%), aeration porosity (+20%), total N content (+103.29%), alkali hydrolyzed nitrogen content (+59.59%) and available potassium content (+114.5%) in the substrates, and increase root activity and shoot biomass by 28.01% and 35.50% respectively. Organic waste after biological treatment could significantly increase the nutrient content of substrate, thus enhance the root activity, chlorophyll concentration and shoot biomass in the seedlings by 43.5%, 18.52% and 26.54% respectively. In conclusion, adding forest waste or organic waste after biological treatment into the matrix could significantly promote the growth of seedlings and realize the resource utilization of waste.
