Abstract:

In order to explore the effect of exogenous inositol on improving the cold tolerance of mini-watermelon, inositol treatment was carried out at the seedling stage and growth stage of mini-watermelon. The growth indexes such as leaf area and SPAD value of leaves at seedling stage and the quality indexes after fruit ripening were measured. The results showed that the application of inositol had a certain promoting effect on the growth of shoot, root, leaf and fruit of mini-watermelon. Among them, the leaf area, leaf SPAD value, root length, root tip number, bifurcation number and crossover number of seedlings were significantly increased by 48.99%, 5.70%, 25.62%, 54.74%, 30.62% and 48.63%, respectively, compared with the control of clear water. The single fruit weight, heart sugar, total sugar and ascorbic acid content were increased by 12.86%, 13.15%, 11.01% and 18.67%, respectively, compared with the control. In summary, external application of inositol can improve the cold resistance of mini-watermelon to a certain extent, reduce damage, promote its growth and improve quality.
