Abstract: In order to study the cadmium content of rice varieties in different rice-growing areas and its relationship with quality. 46 rice cultivars (lines), such as ‘Qifengzhan’, ‘Xiangzhijing’, ‘Yuxiangyouzhan’, which from Changsha and Huizhou are used for materials with Atomic absorption spectrometry and FOSS automatic flow injection instrument to measure the cadmium content and rice quality. The results are as follows:(1) The differences of cadmium content between different rice cultivars(lines)and different planting areas (Changsha and Huizhou) were significant. The average cadmium content of rice in Changsha is twice as much as Huizhou. (2) The rice quality of different rice varieties (lines) planted in Huizhou was better than that in Changsha. (3) Rice cadmium content had a markedly correlation with gel consistency and protein content in Changsha, and shown a negatively correlation with brown rice rate and milled rice rate in Huizhou. And it didn’t ran up to a significant level with other rice quality traits. The environment of paddy field in Huizhou is more favorable for planting rice,‘xiangwan12-32’,‘xiangwanxian12’,‘xiangwan6-31’etc. were low-Cd accumulation varieties and can be extended. The cadmium content of‘jiafuzhan’, ‘9311selected’,‘Ryunyu90’etc. had exceeded national standard and cannot be promoted as a production varieties.
