Abstract:

To determine the feasibility and appropriate dosage of tetraniliprole for the control of Spodoptera frugiperda, egg immersion and leaf dipping methods were performed to explore the toxicity of 200 g/L tetraniliprole SC to eggs and 2nd instar larvae of S. frugiperda, and the control efficacy test was carried out in field. The laboratory toxicity showed that the LC50 of 200 g/L tetraniliprole SC to the eggs and the 2nd instar larvae was 187.423 and 0.023 mg/L, respectively, indicating its poor toxicity to the eggs and much higher toxicity to the 2nd instar larvae than that of 200 g/L chlorantraniliprole SC. In the two-year field experiment, the control efficacy of 200 g/L tetraniliprole SC was 43.26%-59.37% with ingredient dosage of 15-45 g/hm2 at 1 day after treatment (DAT), and the control efficacy increased to 80.28%-91.94% after 7 DAT. Moreover, the control efficacy of 45 g/hm2 treatment was still above 80% at 10 DAT. The 200 g/L tetraniliprole SC had good indoor toxicity to the 2nd instar larvae of S. frugiperda, its field control efficacy was similar to that of 200 g/L chlorantraniliprole SC and 5% emamectin enzoate ME, and it could be used as a potential agent for the control of S. frugiperda.
