Abstract: Because of long-term successive planting of dry-land corn, plant diseases and insect pests are more serious and yield reduction has become a major problem in Lanzhou. In this study, the research object was the rotation crop, which was selected to establish reasonable rotation and reverse cropping system. We introduced different kinds and varieties of vegetable crops, studied different sowing dates and different planting patterns, and screened vegetables suitable for planting and with high economic benefits. The results showed that this study screened squash, baby Chinese cabbage, cabbage and cauliflower, etc. With the adjustment of seeding time, the effective control of pest and disease, and the coordination of the relationship of rainfall on plastic film and supplementary irrigation, the rate of vegetable seedling emergence and requirement for water in the growing period could be assured. It was feasible to plant vegetables in semiarid hilly area of Lanzhou. The economic benefits were very high, and were 3-10 times higher than the output value of wheat and corn.
