Abstract:

The paper aims to find out the pathogen which causes stem rot disease in passion fruit, and the chemicals to control this disease effectively. Stem rot diseased samples were collected from different Passiflora edulia production fields in Guangdong. The pathogen was isolated and determined by methods of morphological observation and molecular identification. The strains’ pathogenicity was measured, and their sensibility to eight fungicides was also detected. Results showed that eight isolated pathogen strains were identified as Fusarium solani. Based on in vivo and in vitro tests with Passiflora edulis, strains of FP6, FP7 and FP2 showed highest pathogenicity, followed by FP1, FP3, FP8 and FP4, and the lowest was FP5. Different fungicides showed effects on pathogen growth rate and pathogenicity, and 30% benazoxystrobin showed the best inhibition effects. This study could lay a material and technology base for further research on pathogenic mechanism of stem rot disease, and disease resistance breeding program of passion fruit.
