Abstract: This study aimed to test whether the taurine determination method in GB 5413.26—2010 could be applied in determination of taurine in feeds. After derivatization with dansyl chloride, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was conducted for taurine determination in chicken, swine and aquatic formula feed, concentrated feed and premixed feed. The reclamation test and matrix effect analysis showed that the proper sampling amount was 2-4 g for chicken and swine formula feeds, and 1 g for other feeds. Then the performance index of this method was tested. The results showed that when the concentration of taurine was 1-100 mg/L, the working curve had a good linear relation with the correlation coefficient being 0.9990. The limit of detection was 30 mg/kg, and the limit of quantitation was 100 mg/kg. The average recovery rate and relative standard deviation were 78%-110% and 1.98%-5.35%, respectively. The established method was sensitive, simple for operation, wide for application and convenient for fast taurine determination in different feeds.
