Effect of Planting Density on Lodging Resistance and Mechanized Harvest Grain of Summer Maize Variety‘Zhengdan1002’

Abstract: The aim was to clarify the suitable planting density, the relationship among planting density, lodging resistance and mechanized harvest indicators of the state approved maize variety‘Zhengdan1002’in Huang-Huai Area. Different density treatments were designed to study the yield, the ability of lodging resistance and the mechanized harvest indicators. The results showed that the highest yield was obtained under the treatment of 75000 strains/hm2, and the yield reached 11211.52 kg/hm2. As the density was increasing, the incidence of lodging increased, and inter-node length showed a gradually increasing trend. The 3rd internode, 4th internode and rachisinternode length obviously increased, and those of high density (97500 strains/hm2) were higher than that of lower density (60000 strains/hm2), increased by 27.67%, 18.29% and 4.36%, respectively, and the difference was significant. The ability of lodging resistance of the 3rd internode at the base and rachisinternode showed a downward trend with the increase of the density. The ability of lodging resistance and crushing strength of the 3rd internode at the base showed a more decreasing trend than those of rachisinternode. Compared with that of lower density (60000 strains/hm2), the ability of lodging resistance of high density (97500 strains/hm2) decreased by 52.50% and 32.34% , and crushing strength decreased by 56.26% and 17.73%. The loss spike rate, grain loss rate and grain crushing rate showed an upward trend with the increase of density. From analyzing the production, lodging rates and mechanized harvest index, the suitable density of ‘Zhengdan1002’in Huang-Huai Area should be 67500-75000 strains/hm2.
