Abstract: The coordinated development level of population and land urbanization in Henan Province was studied in order to promote the healthy development of urbanization. The index weight of 14 indexes selected from resources and environment, economy and society indicators in population and land urbanization were determined by the method of entropy evaluation method. The results showed that: (1) the indexes of population urbanization increased from 2000 to 2014, the increasing range of living standard and population composition grew faster than that of industrial structure and population quality significantly, the urban scale index＞ the output index＞ the input index from 2000 to 2006, the input index exceeded the other two indexes in 2008; (2) the coordinated development level in Henan Province had experienced 3 development phases, which were the disorder phase (2000—2004), the transition phase (2005) and the coordination phase (2006—2014), and the degree of oordinated development increased from 0.15 to 0.99; (3) the index of population and land urbanization in Henan Province showed an increasing trend, the land urbanization index exceeded the population urbanization index in 2013, when Henan came to the stage with the high quality coordinated development. This study concluded the evolution rule of the population- land coordinated development in Henan, which provided practical guidance for promoting the‘three coordination’of the Central Plains Economic Zone development and the social comprehensive progress.
