Abstract:

Combined with the soil animal research at home and abroad in recent years, and based on the predecessors’ research results, this paper introduces in detail the ecological functions of different kinds and representative soil animals, such as earthworms, ants, soil nematode and collembolan and so on, according to soil animal diversity, as well as how the soil animals generate interaction relationship with various environmental factors. Although many scholars at home and abroad have had a lot of research on soil animal diversity, there are rarely report on soil animals’ ecological function and their interaction with different environmental factors, and how to function. Therefore, we summarize the interaction mechanism between soil animal diversity, ecological function and natural environmental factors (such as atmospheric N deposition, vegetation type, soil environment, etc.) and human disturbance (such as reclamation, fire, etc.), and discuss the ecological function of soil animals and future research hotspots, so as to provide the basis for better understanding the role of soil animals in underground in terrestrial ecosystem.

Key words: soil animal, ecological function, atmospheric nitrogen deposition, soil environment, human disturbance
