Abstract: The objective of this study was to determine the effects of oral administration of Pu’er tea extracts on growth performance and blood parameters in passive smoking mice. One hundred and eighty ICR mice were assigned randomly to one of three treatments with 10 mice per group. The control group orally administered physiological saline, groupⅠorally administered physiological saline and received cigarette smoking, and group Ⅱ orally administered Pu’er tea extracts and received cigarette smoking. After 35 d of this experiment, growth performance and blood parameters were analysized. The final body weight and average daily gain of group Ⅰ mice were lower (P < 0.05) than those of group Ⅱ, and group Ⅱ lower (P < 0.05) control group. The serum hemoglobin and carboxyhemoglobin concentrations of control group and group Ⅱ were no significant difference, but were lower (P < 0.05) than those of group Ⅰ. The hemoglobin concentrations of group Ⅰ and Ⅱ in serum red cell were no significant difference, but were higher (P < 0.05) than those of control group. The findings of this study showed that oral administration of Pu’er tea extracts could improve the growth performance and the capability of oxygen carry in passive smoking mice.
