Abstract: 【OBJECTIVE】 In order to study the molecular mechanism of Saccharum arundinaceum Retz under water-stress.【METHOD】 In this paper, three gene S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase (SAMDC), ornithine aminotransferase (OAT) and betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase (BADH) plus one house-keeping gene had been cloned and their expression levels under different stresses were evaluated by real-time PCR technique. 【RESULTS】 The results showed that the expression of SAMDC was inhibited at the beginning and unregulated at later stage by water stress, as the same to that of OAT was inhibited at the beginning and unregulated at later stage, and the expression of BADH was prohibited at the earlier stage along with the subsequent continuous more obvious unregulation. 【CONCLUSION】 From above, it can be speculated spm, proline and betaine could be induced by water stress, of which the influence on betaine was the biggest. These studies aim to provide the theory base of molecular mechanism for drought resistance breeding in Saccharum arundinaceum Retz.
